So I've been slowly working on a set of bridesmaid's dresses that are due at the end of this month. I've had the order since last may and the fabric since December but you know how I work.... under pressure. Anyways, so the bride and two maid's were here on Sunday for fittings and the bride, whom I know quite well (she's a friend) tells me that her mother picked up her dress and then took it back to the dress shop to have alterations done and the shop has now closed it's doors permenantley. So I told the bride, have your mom bring me the dress and I'll do the work. I think I should consider only making suggestions like this when I can actually see the light of day, ie when my head is seeing the light of day and not stuck up somewhere unpleasant.
So the mother of the bride calls me ( I had gotten the impression from the bride that the dress just needed a little hem and maybe the side seams taken in)......... ooooohhhhhhh no, not the case. The mother of the bride informed me that the dress hop had suggested that they cut the dress in two, shorten it in the middle and then re-attach because the hem is decorative and can not be shortened and keep the integrity of the dress, oi. She also informed me that she would like to have a bra built into the dress...... what have I gotten myself into?
Meanwhile, in the back of my head.... I know that I have to make a 1930's themed dress for a wedding that I'm attending on the 9th of July. I have to design and make pattern and the dress all before the 9th. That's one month from today!! Can't I just get a little me time??!!
