Pleasure in the Little things

So I supper all planned for last night. We were going to make Kabobs, turned out I didn't have any sticks, it was after 5 and I wasn't heading out again. So we're having Kabobs tonight. So pizza it was for the first supper of the summer holidays. We had a movie night, which we were done by 7:30. I asked the girls if they wanted to go to bed or do something else. Of course they said, 'do something else' so I took them all outside and headed for the garden. We did some weeding, some planting and all around got muddy. It was a lot of fun. I even had Aurora tell me that she really likes gardening...... who knew?! I was kinda beaming that my kids AND I enjoyed some gardening last night before bed. We didn't make it back in until 9:30. It was a great night!

Spiritual Motivation

I've had the opportunity to be touched by the spirit today. I've read a few friends blogs and I think all to often we forget that others struggle, we struggle, everyone has a struggle of some sort that they are working on. We live in a highly social society (social media and such) and yet we live very lonely lives. I think we allow very few people in to the 'inner sanctum' if you will, and that leaves us lonely and vulnerable. I have an amazing sister that I talk to every day. (well it used to be every day but summer gardens and us both with 4 kids every day sometimes is only twice a week) I can tell her anything, she knows my deep dark secrets, as does my husband but other than that, only some people know some things. Why do we guard ourselves so much? Why are we afraid of seeking help from others that might be able to give guidance or ever comfort on our own struggles and trials? I was touched by those that have opened theirs doors a little wider and have allowed ...

Rainbow Birthday

Rainbow cake and rainbow balloon arch, I made myself.... I must add. It was for Felicity's 4th birthday! We sure had fun!!

Trying to be a little more creative

So after Christmas, I had cleaned and put away all the decorations and I left the top of my piano and my mantel (which is behind the piano) bare. They were bare for over 2 months, I finally decided at the beginning of March that I needed to do something so I hunted Pinterest and a few blogs for ideas on what I could do and this is what I came up with. It sure made me feel like I could accomplish something. My sister even said that I was channeling my in Martha Stewart! Ha! so funny. I just wanted to post it here.

Gage's Birthday

I know this is a little late but better late than never. His first birthday was great. He loves spaghetti and you can tell from the pictures that he loved every minute of his birthday supper. Double fisting it!

Sigh

I just had the most horrible night that I can remember in a long time. The children were heinous, is an understatement. Daniel was off at Young Men's and I ended up eating a whole Cadbury chocolate bar. Now the day was bad and I ended it by cheating on my diet. I am frustrated with my lack of commitment and am disappointed at my inability to be in control of my choices. The one person I normally vent my everything to is very busy in her own life and I am so happy for her. Just needed to get this off my chest.
